A Message From Our Assistant Director, Vanessa Stein

It's been a busy and rewarding month at Jewish Pavilion Senior Services, filled with opportunities to connect, collaborate, and strengthen our community.

One of the highlights was our Fall Festival at Watercrest Winter Park, where more than 100 people came together to network, schmooze, enjoy great food, and support our mission. Looking around the room, I was struck by how much can change in a year. When I attended last fall, I was still getting my feet wet in my new role. This year, I was surrounded by familiar faces: board members, volunteers, donors, healthcare partners, and friends. The evening truly captured the warm sense of community that makes the Jewish Pavilion so special.

Another meaningful part of my work this fall has been leading our five-week Grief Support Group at Congregation Ohev Shalom, which concludes on November 5th. For 90 minutes each week, participants come together to share their stories, support one another, and explore grief through a Jewish lens. There is no right or wrong way to grieve, only the importance of being together and remaining open to the journey. It is always a powerful experience, and one that continues to impact me as much as the participants.

We have also been celebrating and strengthening partnerships throughout Central Florida. From joining Providence Living in Maitland for their 5th anniversary celebration to recognizing ComForCare Home Care's 10th anniversary, we've had the opportunity to honor organizations that share our commitment to enhancing the lives of older adults. These relationships help us expand our impact and create meaningful connections for the seniors we serve.

Behind the scenes, our Board of Directors has been hard at work planning for the future. We recently approved our annual budget and continued preparations for upcoming fundraising efforts, including our Giving Tuesday/Hanukkah campaign. I've also spent time working through donor and financial record updates as part of our ongoing bookkeeping transition. It's not always the most exciting work, but it's essential to ensuring we remain strong stewards of the support entrusted to us.

As we look toward the end of the year, we are especially grateful for the generosity of our community and excited about matching gift opportunities from TOP Foundation and S’Firot Foundation that help extend the impact of every donation.

Thank you for being part of the Jewish Pavilion family and for helping us bring connection, comfort, and joy to seniors throughout Central Florida.
